CF Editorial Intern: Shaniqua King
CollegeFashionista: What school do you attend and what are you studying?
Shaniqua King: I’m currently a senior at the University of Bridgeport studying Fashion Merchandising and minor in Mass Communications.
CF: What is your role as an editorial intern and what is your favorite part of your job?
SK: On a daily basis I review/edit style guru’s articles and photos for the CollegeFashionista website, from STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK to ACCESSORIES REPORT. One of my favorite things about being an editorial intern is looking at the photos of stylish Fashionistas/os from all around the world. Everyone has their own individual sense of style and rules for fashion, which is refreshing. Another favorite part of being an editorial intern is reading each style gurus article daily, because it gives me a new fashion tip to incorporate into my current wardrobe.
CF: What are your favorite magazines?
SK: Without a doubt Marie Claire and Style.com print are two of my personal favorite magazines to read. Not because of its glossy images, but its content. They both have unique perspectives on the industry. Every issue of Marie Claire I always look forward to reading there features section, because there raise awareness of women lifestyles from other countries. Even though Style.com print is fairly new, it is already one of my personal favorites because of it’s in depth features of the designers and their collections.
CF: If you could use any store as your personal closet, which store would you choose?
SK: Does an online store count and it is does―It would definitely have to be 6pm.com. Being the frugalista that I’m, I really don’t like spending a lot of money on the latest trends, but invest in the basics. There website have hundreds of designer labels at affordable prices, which I truly love.
